Hyperhidrosis Treatment

Hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating, is a very disabling condition that causes significant social and emotional problems. This can affect the head and neck, palms and soles, arm pits, private areas and all over (generalized). It is rarely associated with other medical problems, but sometimes a thorough history of work-up is necessary.

At the Michigan Dermatology Institute, if you have excessive sweating that is causing issues with your life we are here to help! Fortunately, there are several options for treatment depending on your personalize situation. Let’s get started with gaining control of your sweating.

A: Unfortunately this tends to be a life-long/chronic condition, so finding a treatment that works for you (in terms of safety, cost and effectiveness) is our goal.

A: Many factors play a role in the development of acne. Internally we know that hormones, inflammation, bacteria that live on our skin and our pores all contribute to the formation of acne lesions. Externally, picking at spots, skin products with ingredients known to cause acne, certain activities and sometimes foods can all make acne worse. A thorough discussion of triggers is necessary to get control.

A: Over-the-counter anti-perspirants are always available and easily accessible. Usually by the time we are performing an evaluation, we need more than this. There are several prescription strength topicals, “BOTOX”, iontophoresis and oral treatments. We customize the treatment that works for you and your insurance company.
